"DISC" displayed on trip computer display 850 1997

When I switch the info selector from temperature to average miles per hour I get a momentary display of "DISC". This message is shown on the little LCD display where the time is shown at the center of the instrument panel. What does this mean. Is it a glitch? Does it have to do with the brakes or the CD player?

    are there any mods for the 8's or s70's that let us see cd track info instaed of the time or anything like that? any way to chagne what the trip compute says???

    I have a '95 with CD changer that ws mounted on the trunk floor by Volvo, Sweden, and it does the same thing. I've noticed no other ill effects.

    Abbreviation of "disconnected," it should really ready "calculating" or "waiting for information" or "info?". This is normal behavior. If there was a serious failure in the data supply, it would come on and stay on.

      I had the same thing happen about a month ago on my v70. A brickboard member (don't remember who) suggested that it is caused by the contacts in the switch being dirty and that rotating it back and forth a bunch of times will clear it up . I tried it and haven't seen the message since. If it doesn't go away, you may be able to take the switch apart and clean the contacts or replace it. Hope that works.

        Only happens very occasionally. Some warm day I'll pull the switch, clean the contacts, and mist them with Tri-Flow. Thanks for the tip.
