Stripped wiper

Hey all:

I have a 93 805 with 202,000 miles. Today I made the mistake of not scraping my windshield and turning on the wiper. The wiper was stuck and the motor proceeded to strip out some gearing on the wiper. I tried torquing down the 13 mm bolt on the wiper arm, but something in their is striped because the wiper now goes back and forth erratically. Its cold and we are getting 1 foot of snow, so I don't really want to go exploring and taking things apart.

Does anyone know what part is striped? Where it is located? and if I can get it on line?

Thanks,
John

I've been getting by by cleaning up the splines on the shaft that the arm bolts to, wrapping it in a bunch of aluminum foil and then bolting the arm back on. That lasted me about a year last time, but I avoid using wipers (big fan of Rain-X).

FCP Groton carries new arms. Not sure if their online catalog reflects that, but they had a couple hanging on the wall the last time I was in there.

More than likely the wiper arm itself is stripped. To verify, take the 13mm bolt off and pull the arm off. The post has small splines all around for grip.
Get used ones in junkyards or call IPD.
