ETS light but no codes, engine runs fine. Stumped. S70

1999 S70 Turbo, 126k: Trying to get this car sold, so I fixed the no-start problem, which was a fuel pump relay. Car runs fine and starts right up.

After 10-20 minutes of driving the ETS light comes on. No engine stumbling, surging, or anything other than normal operation. I used my generic code reader that has grabbed all other Volvo codes for me in the past, and no code!. I can erase the light, but it comes back after driving for a while, and still no codes.

I've read of others suspecting a brake switch problem that for some reason makes the ETS light come on. Also have seen references to the dreaded 'throttle body death march'.

Do these symptoms point to anything specific, or is my S70 haunted?

Is a throttle body cleaning in order, or do I just nuke the barstard?

Your clues appreciated!

PS I'm 300 miles from the nearest dealer - so visiting them is out.
