AC Fault S70 98

My ac is displaying the blinking light fault on the dash. It also is not heating properly. Any ideas before I take it in.

Re: AC Fault S70 99

Mine has been blowing fuses regularly, just using the heater blower fan. Plan to take it in soon while it's still under warranty. Any advice re; Volvo resistence to honoring the warranty for this? Is this a common problem and the subject of a service bulletin?

Re: AC Fault S70 98

Does the blower motor run? Mine just failed on my 98 T5 (40K).

When I restart the car with fan in off position the dash

lights stay off. Turn the fan on and I hear the motor

make a deep growl then stop. Dash lights come on. I presume

the system detects the motor drawing too much current, shuts

it down and sets the dash ac lights and error codes.

Of course, I have no heat and (a bigger problem this time

of year) no defroster.

I have a new fan assembly sitting on my shelf in the garage.

Will be swapping it in this weekend. The assembly was about

$140 and I suspect a tech would need a couple hours to

swap it.

Re: AC Fault

It won't take that long. Take out the glove box (25 torx screws), drop the kick panel (2 25 torx), now you see the knee bolster, there are 3 13mm nuts holding it in, fight the bolster out and now you can see the fan, 25 torx screws hold it in place. You don't need to take out the right bolster attachment post, the fan will come out without doing that. Good luck
