Disabling DRLs on a S60?

I purchased a brand new Canadian 2009 S60 2.5T yesterday, fully loaded including luxury pkg, body kit, rear wing, and special order rims. So yea, I'm pretty excited. Car should be ready in about two weeks.
Question: Their is a firmware flash that is available from Volvo that disables the DRL's (Daytime Running Lights) if requested. No problem in the U.S.A, but the folks up here just refuse to do it as their is some misinformation out there about the law here in Ontario regarding DRL's. I wrote an article about this a few years ago that was published in a National Newspaper after interviewing a spokesperson from the Ministry of Transportation. The law states: That all cars built after 1990 MUST have DRL's. HOWEVER, their is NO LAW that says you have to use them! In other words, police are not stopping people in the middle of the day if your headlights are not on. My 850 (that was traded in) had the DRLs disabled and I want to do the same with my new purchase.
Does anyone know of a modification, other then the firmware flash, that will disable the DRL's?
For example, American S70s had a screw inbedded in the light switch that when turned, would turn off the DRLs, giving the owner a choice. On my 850, I had to remove the light switch and disconnect one wire.
Just to be clear. I advocate the use of DRLs and drive frequently during the day with my headlights on as a safety concern. However, I want to be able turn them off when desired. My beef with Volvo is ALL the lamps come on including the rear license lamps, taillights, side markers and more. Bulb life is shortened, more draw on the alternator is used which is just plain annoying in my opinion.

Anyone got a "fix"?

TIA
