I am looking at page 70 of the 2008/2009 IPD Parts Catalog (850/70/S60/S80/XC90/40series/V50/C30).

It has a listing and photos of model years 1994-2008, models, and features.

There is a listing as follows:
    S60, V70 MKII; 2001-2007
160 HP non-Turbo with auto or manual trans
197 HP light-pressure Turbo auto trans only
247 HP T5 manual or auto trans
300 HP R models with auto or manual trans
All XC models are light pressure Turb0 and auto trans and AWD

The listing for 2008 V70 models all have auto trans; no T5 models

The listing for 2008 C30 model shows a 6-speed manual Transmission or Optional 5-Speed Geartronic.

If these listings are accurate, it would appear that the V70 T5(M) was available through model year 2007

      Dave,

I hope you are right because if production of the T-5 with a manual continued until 2007 that would expand the population of used T-5s available.

Interesting question. According to the owner's manuals, 2007 was the last year for the manual tranny. All manuals before 2007 list the V70 NA and T5 specs with manual shifters.

All you can do now is look on Autotrader.com or other sites and do a refined search for manual tranny Volvos. Never trust used car salesmen who don't have a MT on the lot :)

Manual V70 T-5's in USA? Incredibly rare. V70-XC70

Unfortunately, incredibly rare, especially here in the south. Even automatic V70s are rare becasue this was SUV land, and now that cheap gasoline is back, the bad buying habits are coming back.

        So true!!!

        I live in SE Virginia. I own two 98 V70 w/manual. I also own a 88 245 w/manual ... not to mention the 67 MGB. All you see is A/T down here.

I bought the first V70 from a dealer near Foxboro Mass.

I bought the second (my T-5M; learned it was for sale on the Brickboard) from a PO on Long Island.

In places where someone else has to drive your car, the young kid has to go find some old guy in the back who knows how to drive a stick shift. Before it gets to that, I always announce loudly that it is a manual tranny and get a few blank stares.

I must be gettin' old .....

I know my '99 is a manual...after that I'm not sure. Until I found mine, I didn't think they'd even gone that long with them! It is FWD. And wow, it's fast.

      Nate,

A friend said he thinks the T-5 with a manual was still sold in the U.S. until 2003 or 2004 but wasn't sure. I pretty sure they are no longer available. If you want to buy a turbo wagon with a manual from Volvo your only option now is a AWD V70R.

I know AWD is a great feature, but I would prefer, if possible to purchase FWD T-5.

Your friend is correct. 2004 was the last year when T5 had 5-speed manual. It was standard, 5-spd auto was an option at cost of $1200, I believe.

Starting with 2005 5-spd auto is the standard on T5 and no manual option is provided. "R" still has manual 6-spd default.
