V70 AIR MASS METER V70-XC70

I have a 1998 V70R AWD. Car has been stalling, and I had to disconnect the air mass meter to get car home. Should I assume it needs to be replaced. If so, how do you remove it?

Thanks

    V70 AIR MASS METER V70-XC70

Hello again Bugs. Our 98GLT just started doing this a couple of days ago (and now the wife won't drive it). My code reader gave me P0103 which is MAF related. I went through the trouble of cleaning the sensor plugs, contacts, etc, even the air mass meter itself. Carefully went through all the vacuum hoses and such, no go. Disconnected the unit and though it doesn't run perfectly in this mode, the stalling and cutting out disappeared completely. Based on this, and the browsing I did on volvospeed etc, I'm going to bolt in a new meter. It's mounted to the top section of your air box (where the filter is). Remove the hose from your air pump, remove the accordion tube that goes to the engine, get the coil wire out of the way, unclip and remove the box lid and then unscrew the unit from the back side of the air box lid.

    DS
