    Volvos seem to be particulary susceptible to this problem. If you overfill the tank and get liquid gasoline into the the line that goes to the charcoal filter, the car will idle badly. The only cure is to not overfill.
    Of course, if you filled up the car at the same time a tanker truck is filling the station's pumps, it is possible that you might have pumped a lot of junk into your tank which is now stuck in the filter.

      Once the nozzle clicks simply remove it and pay the bill. Don't try to round to the next dollar or even the next dime.

    How many miles on the car? When was the last time the car had a tune up?

    It's probably just a coincidence the motor idles rough after fill up...probably problem more attributed to a hot start condition. Those problems deal with worn spark plugs, dirty fuel filters and injectors, dirty air filter. If it really has something to do with your fuel tank......you might have a clogged screen on your fuel pump in the gas tank. Depending on where you are in the country, I would use a bottle of dry gas in the tank, just incase you have water from condesation build up in the tank.....should keep the tank full as possible in the winter....

      Can you give some more information. where do you live? what way the temp the day you filled up? How many miles on car? have you done any work to the car recently? if you could answer I may have some ideas for you.
