S80 2004 Radiator Fan S80

Greetings,
Had a mishap and struck a dead animal in the road. Replaced the front bumper and the air conditioner radiator. (The smaller pre-radiator I assume). When I run the vehicle through the car wash the radiator cooling fan will come on, and stay on. Sometimes it may be a few days until it stops. I can pull the fan power supply and get it to stop but I'm wondering if any one else has any experience with this kind of condition. Could it be moisture in a relay? (the upper power supply connection is dry inside and out. I don't see any moisture around the engine bay. All other mechanicals appear in tip top operation. With the weather so cold in my location--a continuously running fan can't be good for the engine. Oh, the temperature gage is steadily in the middle of the gage. Thank you.

Hmmmm. The AC condenser was replaced (radiator looking thing). Then the engine fan comes on whenever it get wet. You are correct, it is probably not the relay on the fan shroud.
It could be the wiring behind the right headlight. One of the wires from the compressor is wired to a thermostat, which shuts off the AC if the compressor gets too hot.
There is also a high pressure sensor for the AC, and if that gets too high, the AC shuts off and the fan turns on.

Thank you Klaus. I will check that. I have monitored your helpful responses to many Volvonauts and am pleased you responded to my situation.
      Respectfully,

There is no 12 step program for us. Just more Volvos.

Don't thank me, thank Jarrod - the Brickboard creator. Without him, we would all be driving Japanese products.

This is probably a really dumb suggestion and I don't know if something of the sort is even possible. But it almost sounds as though the rain sensor (for the wipers) somehow became crossed with the temp sensor that triggers the fan. Could that be...?...

Thanks for responding--the rain sensor works fine when it's raining. I drove down to San Antonio and it (the problem) cleared up. Oh, forgot--the AC does not come on when the fan is on or rather:
water splashes onto radiator area; fan comes on; AC won't work. A couple of days later (assuming it dries out) radiator fan works fine (that is it is off) the AC works fine (fan of course comes on when AC is on); turn off AC and fan turns off. The whole thing starts again after I drive in the rain or get a car wash.
