Brakes Squealling again 850 1997

Well they lasted exactly a year, but the dreaded noise has returned. I think it's the same offending wheel (right rear) Can I have the breakdown of the procedure, and is it a question of just remounting the pads? What's your favorite brand of grease? Do you use a ton, a healthy measure, or just a little bit? Ever double up on shims, or cut their shape? Is it all about the pins for the rear brakes, and it's as simple as that? Does that caliper need an overhaul? I don't want to go another minute with the noise, but it's snowing here today. Thanks very much.

IPD sells a small tube of anti squeal which really works. Also try your local parts store for some that gets put on the back of the brake pad.

If your spring and pins are rusty, invest in a new set. Additional brake grease will not stop the squeal, unless your slide pins are dirty and the pads begin to rub against the rotor all of the time.
