Will a 1996 850 tranny work in a 1993 volvo 850?

Klaus, and Dick thanks for your responses. I went ahead and spliced the wires 2gether, and after I got the fire out and all the smoke cleared the fire inspector left and all the fun stuff. Nah Im just kidding it worked just fine. I was just kinda leary if ya know what I mean.

Ive been a Volvo tech for over 20 years but still learn somthing new every day.
Let me know If I can ever help you guys with anything.

It should. I know the 1994 can accept the 1996 or 1997. But the 93 is a strange duck. The axles should be the same, the mounting points are the same...
The only sticking points are the electrics for it.

Klaus thanks for returning my querry, the part Im concerned with is where is my speed signal going to come from?
1996 trannys dont have a vehicle speed sensor like a 93 thru 95.
they do have a simaler sensor up higher, just wondering if I can splice these wires to old connecter and get my speed signal.
      What do you think?

I hate splicing wires, but that might work. The TCU for the 1996 has more logic than the 1993.
The Volvospeed guys might know more, if you can stand the scarcasm.
