About 3 weeks ago, my 94 850 would stop running, typically when I was stopped at a stop sign. I could hear the fuel pump when I turned the key, so I replaced the fuel relay breaker. Everything was fine until yesterday, the same thing happened. It took me about 10 minutes to get it started again. Any ideas? Should I replace the fuel pump? Will there be codes even though the check engine light is not on. Please let me know if you can help me out.

If the car drives ok on the highway or whatever and you get off the road and slow down and the car dies, many times that means you have a leak in the air intake system. Check to make sure all the clamps on your air filter box are tight and that none of the plastic parts are cracked or have holes in them. make sure the plastic part that goes to the throttle body is on tight and not cracked.

When was the last time the fuel filter was replaced?

If you could hear the fuel pump prime when you turned the key, the fuel relay for sure wasn't the problem.....if you know how to check codes....what codes do you have on the A2 and A6 pins? How many miles on the car?

In the A-6 position, I get code 3-2-4. There is 183,000 on the car and its a 5 speed. Not sure when the fuel filter was replaced.

Cam position sensor code.

It is a pricey little devil but it is easy to change. When it goes bad the car will not run.

Can I take the old one out and just clean it up, or should I replace? Any idea where I can get a good price on one? I see that my local dealer is asking around $200. Let me know if you can help me out.

since your going to need it quick, 200.00 is about what you would pay for new even on the online sites....

I have noticed a small amount of oil on the inside of this part before, and cleaning didn't seem to help. The little guy has given you 183,000 miles of service.....time for retirement.

Change your fuel filter too since you can't remember a recent change....they should be changed at 60,000 miles....
