Lifters V70-XC70 1998

So much about lifters....OK, its not the o rings, lots of preasure, and fresh 10/30...so, How many hours for an 'amateur' to replace the lifters?
V70 2.4L non-turbo, 170K miles.

Then, how many hours [same amateur] to replace the rack, now leaking too much.

Thanks all

steering rack /Lifters V70-XC70 1998

Hi,
I do comment the steering rack only as did it last summer.
-Used a considerable time to clean and empty the fluids as my plan was to reinstall the same rack after repair (2 hours) and make the work more pleasent
-engine support bottom up and lowering subframe with all needed equipment fitting (2 hours)
-unistalling the lower steering shaft was for me very difficult (2 hours)
-uninstalling the rack (2hours)
mine was leaking from the pinion upper most gasket, which I renewed (30Euros) and reinstalled the old unit.

For cleaning and fixing the rack I used some hours on an other day as well as for reinstalling as I'm not very comfortable to work on my back long hours.

I also installed a inline filter into the return line to catch any particles got into the system. Also used Volvo fluid instad of regular ATF stated in manual.

Very interesting engineering exercise but definitely not to be carried out in a hurry as it is a difficult place to work and engine & subframe are heavy and must not slip.

br Tapsa
