just how serious is the "emission system service required" message?
Can this wait until I at least pay off the Christmas stuff. I was thinking about a new flame box and a brake job, not some bogus electronics.
Also can the flame box be cleaned and put back into service or does it need change out?

Stop by your local parts store and get your codes read. If they can delete them at the same time, do it.

Wait. Do not rush to the dealer. Take your time. It could just be a simple vacuum leak.

The oil separator box should be replaced, not cleaned. But first make sure it isn't clogged by checking the vacuum draw through the oil dipstick. If you use synthetic engine oil, it probably is not going to be bad at all.

What is the fault code? That is the 1st step to know the cause, could be a bad plug or blown engine.
