Lamda indicator S70

I drive the Volvo S70. The indicator warning light with the Lamda sign lighted up and did not go off even after I restarted the engine. Does anybody know what the light is for?

Hi, lamba sensor is fairly sensitive; short time removal of the air guide (radiator to air filter box) causes lambda to lit (weak idle mix). You should check all the air ducts, vacum lines for cracks and the function of fresh air selector thermostat (exhaust or radiator), engine temp sensor. Also the clocked crankshaft ventilation can cause lambda to lit.
The OBDII codes can help finding the right cause.

Emmission controls, engine problems. You need to get the codes scanned to determine what the real problem is.

Thank you Klaus. But I have more questions. What codes and where can I get the codes scanned? Can I still drive the car? It's a holiday here. Thanks in advance for your help.

Yes, you can still drive the car. Your gasoline mileage may suffer a little and the engine runs rough.

In the USA, most auto parts stores will lend you a code reader or help you read your codes. This includes Autozone and Pepboys. If not in the USA, you will need to find a garage to do it for you at minimal cost.
