Electrical problem 850 1993

I am looking at a car that will not run.
The only visible symptoms are no volts to gages, radio and fuel pump.
Couldn't i jump 12 vdc to input of fuel pump to get it started?
or is there other safety cutoffs in the circuit?

If you are already jumping the car battery to try starting the car and turning the key to posII and no dash lights come on, the ignition switch may be the real problem.
You make it sound as if the engine is turning over and nothing is happening. If so, search for "fuel pump relay". Remove the relay and jump the connectors to have the fuel pump run when the key is in posII.

I also now think it is the ignition switch but would like to have the wiring diagram to see how to bypass switch temporarily.
Fcp has the switch for 59.00 but i would rather diagnose it bad first.

There are at least 6 wires going into the switch and cannot be bypassed. The clamshell around the steering column needs to be removed to give you access to the switch on the left hand side.
The wires all go into a black plastic round connector. Do not take this apart! You will never get the wires in the proper place again!! Just pull the connector off the aluminum switch and unscrew the switch.
I have had the switch apart by prying the aluminum cover off to expose all of the copper/gold parts. If the contacts just need a little bending to make it better, do it. If the contacts are worn off...
If you turn the key to the first position, I imagine you could drive the car using a screwdriver to turn the electrical portion. I would rather you put the screws back and just leave the clamshell off.
