Hi I have a 1994 volvo 850 turbo and last night the tempeture when to about 85% of the gauge (still below the red zone) and then cool down again so this morning fill the reservor and drove to work about 6 miles and pop!! sound came from like under the dash or engine compartment and smelly steam come out of the air vents very bad, I check the cooland reservor and it was gone, i filled again but keeps going down, I don't see any leaking under the car. does anyone has an idea what this could be??? thanks guys!!

    yeah it's your heater core. If you do it yourself useing the directions from volvospeed, use a shop vac and suck the fluid from the lines at the fire wall on the motor side. It will save you from getting more fluid inside the car when you pull the core out. It really is an easy job.

    Your heater core just sprung a leak. There's no water under teh car (yet) because it's all in your carpet.

    The repair is to replace the heater core....it's not too bad a job.

    by the way ac was off when this happend!!
