Computer message V70-XC70 2001

I just replaced the 4 light bulbs in the lower portion of the instrument panel of my wife's 2001 V70T5. When I replaced the panel and restarted the car, I got a message in the computer center that stated, "ABS-Airbag-Service-Urgent"

I am fairly certain that I did not touch any wires or sensors while I had the instrument control panel removed.

Does anyone have any idea what may have happened or do you think this is just coicidental? I am sure that a code has been thrown and can be retried by my independent mechanic.

Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated. Thanks, Fred.

If you turned on the ignition while the panel was out of the car, the ABS will have a problem. I hope you pushed all of the connections back securely.

Hopefully the garage can clear it, a normal handheld scanner cannot do this.

Dear Klaus, thanks for your reply. Yes, I did turn on the ignition while I had the panel out so that I could move the gearshift lever down to Drive and better access the screws for replacement.
I will have my independent mechanic check it today. Do you think it is just a matter of clearing the code? Thanks, Fred.

Yes, just clear the SRS code. Your mechanic needs to have a Volvo scan tool or equivilant to do so.
Warning to others: NEVER turn on the ignition when the dash is out of the car or any other SRS device is disconnected.
