oil cooling line, replacement V70-XC70 1998

Hi,

My 98 V70R AWD is dripping engine oil onto the driveway. The oil seems to come from a bad crimp on the oil cooling inlet line, which goes into the bottom of the radiator. The part# is 3528201 and the best price I found was $96.50 from Borton Volvo.

It looks like something I can replace myself, but wanted to check in with the experts before I screw up and have to ride my bike to work.

I noticed that on the engine side, both the inlet and outlet line are attached by a common bracket and bolt. Access to this bolt is a bit restricted, as it sits right above the frame. Also I am not sure if I can get the defective inlet end off without disturbing the outlet end (again on the engine side).

I would be grateful for any advice or word of caution.

Thanks.

I had the same problem with my 96 855 Turbo. I would advise that you get a new o-ring for the line/oil cooler junction along with the basket clamp device for this union. I like to put a tie-wrap around this clamp because it makes me feel more secure. I believe there was a gasket on the oil line/engine block junction? I think it was a 10 mm bolt and with the right socket extensions and/or u-joint I don't recall any difficult issues with getting it off. Just be ready for a boat load of oil to drain out of the oil cooler. When you are done, be sure to check thoroughly for oil leaks as this can make a quick mess, not to mention-ruin your engine. Should only take an hour or so...
