    Does 1998 V70 XC uses premium or regular? V70-XC70

    According to the manual, ALL front wheel drive Volvos should use premium. Mine happens to run pretty well on mid-grade, 89 octane.
    Using 87 octane, regular, will probably work if you never push the gas pedal down. Most have found that mpg deminishes with 87 octane.
    Remember, the knock sensors will detect knock long before your ears will. And when knock is detected, extra gasoline is injected into the cylinders to cool them down and the timeing can be retarded.
