Touring Tire for an '01 V70 T5?? V70-XC70

Okay... I realize I bought a performace wagon, but given the erratic price of a gallon of gas and the negative effect of traffic infractions on my day job (pilot), I now drive like a little old lady! This, combined with the fact that I am a cheap SOB, has me looking for the best bang for my buck on a tire. Does anyone make a touring tire for this vehicle?? If not what is my best option? The yokohama's I had on the car left me wanting in the treadwear department. I also seem to remember someone saying a different tire size eliminated the notorious tire rubbing. Can anyone help me with this? Would the circumference of the tire be different and affect my mileage? Stock tire size is 235/45/17. Thanks, Gene

It must be tough finding reasonably priced tires in that "sporty" size. That's why I like my 15-inchers so much! Your Yokohama's probably have a "V" speed rating (149mph). A good "H" rated (130mph) tire should do you just fine and cost less. Right now I'm looking at either the Yokohama Avid H4S or the Bridgestone Potenza G019 Grid for our Mini. They have treadwear ratings of 500 and 460 respectively despite still being "sporty" tires.

For different sized tires, Google "tire size calculator". A bigger or smaller circumference tire will affect your speedometer reading.

Right, I don't want to change the circumference just buy a tire that won't rub the wheel well... I guess I am looking for a tire size where the aspect ratio is different but the circumference would be the same. Thanks
