Tire recommendations 235/40 18 S60 2004

Just looking for some suggestions on tires for my '04 S60R.......

When I bought the car a year ago it had a pair of well worn Pirelli P-Zero Rosso (stock) in the back and a pair of lightly used Pirelli P-Zero Nero in the front. Seeing that the back tires needed to be changed I went ahead and got two P-Zero Nero tires to match the front (I was told that for AWD vehicles, you should have the same tire all around). Problem is that after only ~25K miles, they are just about done! They seem to drive very well, grip like flypaper and are very quiet but the are definitely on the pricier side considering its short life ($180 each).

Does anyone have any recommendations for decent tires that won't cost two arms and a leg?

    Tire recommendations 235/40 18 S60 2004

I run 235/45 17's on my 01 V70 T5, and had good results with Perilli P6's and Kumho's ESTA's. Both were a lot less expensive than what you quoted. I can't remember the exact costs involved, but the Perilli's were more expensive, but I got 55,000 miles, and only 35,000 from the Kumho's. The Perilli's were original when I purchased the car new. I drive very easy, and am not 4 wheel drive, so that may also make a difference.

One thing you might consider if your car does not have it, is a tire pressure monitoring system. I've had 2 flats, and both times with the low profile tires I could not feel it. In one case I ruined a tire, the other time I got lucky. One of the $180 tires exceeds the price of this system. I'm using the Schrader-Bridgeport brand, but understand the Orange brand is also pretty good and reasonably priced.

I bought all my stuff at America's Tire Company, as they will match anyone's prices. I did my research on tirerack.com then printed their price, and they matched it.

Good Luck, let us know how it goes!
