Question on 850 engine 850

I have been offered an 850 on a 94 plate that as been stood a few months and will not now start.
The car was running fine before, could this be down to sticking valves that one of my friends said is quite common on these cars, if they have been stood for a while.
Plus any problem areas on the 850s that I should look out for, especially in the rust department.

cheeers Ian

    Question on 850 engine 850

LOL. "It ran before I parked it." You are in luck, maybe. The 1994 850 has onboard OBDII diagnostics in the engine compartment, letting you check the trouble codes to determine what is wrong with the engine. Valves never get "stuck".

    Question on 850 engine 850

Rust is generally not a 850 problem. Check the timing belt. If it's broken walk away unless you're a really handy DYI'er and get it REALLY cheap. A broken belt means bent valves.

Go here and go down about 3 pages to get to what you want. The procedures will work for 850s.

The diagnostic boxes are hanging off the larger engine computer box. On left hand drive cars, it is on the passenger side.
