Any way to tighten up a sun visor? 850 1996

The driver's sun visor on Arabella, our 1996 850 sedan, has gotten really floppy. I'm tall enough that it has irritated me for ages, but it's now irritating even my 5 foot nothing wife (Arabella is her car, that she lets me drive sometimes).

Best online price I've found is $171 plus shipping, so buying new is not attractive; I haven't tried the local junkyards yet to see if I can find one that is less floppy.

Our old 145, The White Whale, had a screw that you could tighten to adjust the visor's movement, but I don't find any such thing on the 850. Is there a way to adjust it on this car?

It's happened to me more than once. There does not appear to be any way to fix them.

You can find them used from various sellers on Ebay. Now, I always get mine from Erie Volvo ( http://erievovo.com/ ), also used, because they give a lifetime warranty (last time I checked). Call them directly (they only show a selection of parts on ebay). They will ask for your interior color code.

I have no actual experience with their warranties though (fortunately). Hope this helps.

The short answer is no. The way they work is that the is a plastic cam inside the visor. The plastic wears out and the visor flops.

I removed the visors from our car. I haven't replaced them as they are seldom used.
