Brake rumble 850 1994

Just came back from a trip to Colorado (from FL) and my brakes rumble when coming to a stop.
I step on the pedal about mid way and that's when they like to make the most noise and slight vibration (more of a rumble) in all four wheels.

Before I went on this trip my ABS light would come on sporadically, then shut itself off when I turned the car off. It would not come back immediately after turning the car on, only after driving for a bit, or it would not even come on.

I pulled the codes and cleared them one day from every module way before all this began happening trying to diagnose a check engine light that was consistently on. I cleared the ABS module (it had codes in it but I didn't write them down) and at this point the light had never come on before. It was only after I cleared the codes that the light began coming on. I also had the break system bled (in preparation for Colorado trip) before this all began happening.

I will pull the codes from the ABS at some point today and see what's going on.

My question is: are my rotors all warped all of a sudden, or is this an ABS issue? I'll look up and post my ABS error codes as soon as I acquire them.

Thanks everybody.

the error codes gotten from A3 (ABS) are 1-4-1 and 1-4-2...

bay 13 says they are:
1-4-1: Pedal signal faulty - shorted to ground
1-4-2: Stop lamp switch faulty

Would all of this stuff be under my steering column, near the brake pedal? Is this the same kind of switch that disengages the cruise control? Could this be related to my rumbling?

If you get a sensor code, check the axle on the inside of the rotor for that wheel. There are what look like teeth that the sensor sees to determine rotation. Often, this area gets rusty or very dirty and just needs to be cleaned off so the sensor has something to look at again. It is very easy to clean with a wire brush if the rotor is off, or using jack stands with the rotors still on. Just make sure you are wearing safety glasses.

1993-1995 ABS modules are very sturdy and seldom fail.

I still miss my 164 and my 854T. Just driving a V70R :)

Check your calipers and make sure all the mounting bolts are screwed in tight.

My 97 850 has done that before. The whole car would rumble. I replaced the rear pads to fix the problem. 1 hr. job.

The rumbling you are feeling through the pedal is probably the ABS pump working. On my later 96 850, this is normal when the ABS is in operation. It looks like the switches on your brake pedal are in need of some resoldering.
