Driver’s seat stuck in full forward position, won’t move C70 1998

Hi all – I have a problem with the drivers seat in my '98 C70. It’s stuck in the fully forward position after a rear passenger got out. None of the switch(es) work...the lever, the red loop, or any of the buttons.

First step was to take the power seat switches from the passenger side and try using them to see if that was the issue. Still didn't move. And the driver power seat switches operate when plugged into the passenger seat, so that can be eliminated as the potential problem.

When I lift the lever or pull the red loop to move the seat forward, there is a distinct "click" from under the seat, like it's trying to move something.

Can't drive anywhere...unless I fast-forward my plans to get my 4-year-old son driving a stick. What could the problem be? And until I figure it out, is there any way to move that doggone seat?

Post an e mail and i'll send you the bulletin on the repair. There is a small micro switch near the outboard hing for the seatback, that tells the seat controler when the seat is folded back and to slide the seat rearward. There is a spring which holds a piece of linkage against the switch, and the plastic retainer on one end breaks off. You can manually trip the microswitch with your finger and roll the seat back to a comfortable position. The repair parts consist of a small spring, and a screw, you take the side cover off, cut a template out of the bulletin and drill a small hole to attach the other end of the spring to.

Great. Thanks, bob. Please send it to abeandchris(at)hotmail(dot)com. I saw some things in the archive about a microswitch, and wondered if that wasn't the case.
