AC Starts COOL after 15 minutes blows warm air 850 1995

850GLT 130K 1995
Start the car with AC on blows cold air- after 15 minutes starts blowing warm air not hot just warm from the vents. Bring car home turn off car. Turn car back on AC blows cold and in 15 minutes starts blowing warm air from vents again. Outside temp is in the low 90's. This just started to days ago- but also did it intermitently about two weeks ago in hot weather

Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated-740gt

PS-I have read the archives so i am thinking:
Compressor temperature sensor
Clutch gap
low freon
Circuit board solder joints(behind the dash)

My vote is for the clutch gap. It is easy to measure with a feller gage. If it's 0.030" or greater you have found your problem. Being temperature related is also a good clue. You will have to reduce it by either removing shims (difficult) or inserting shims externally on the clutch (easier). The clutch face plate must be removed to close up the gap by removing shims. Try to get it to around 0.015".
another test is to tap the clutch with a stick (carefully) while the engine is running. If the compressor engages, it is a gap problem. Also if everything works when the temperature is lower (70-75), this is another pointer to a clutch problem.
