No Ffow through Heater Core S70

I dropped a replacement engine into my S70 and now I cannot get any heat. I installed a new water pump. The engine heats up normal but after driving it for many miles I can still put my hand on both pipes connected to the heater. They remain cold. I blew all fluid out when I had the engine out. I am not sure if I have the hoses connected properly and don't know if it makes any difference. The long hose from the block is connected to the bottom heater connector and the short one from the pipe along the back of the block is connected to the top. That is the way they appear to lay the best. It does not look like I can reverse them.
Does anyone have a clue aa to what is going On? I have driven the car enough to burn up a tank of gas in hot weather with the AC on, so I am sure the rest of the circulation system is in order and all air should be purged from the system. The wife likes the ice cold AC for now but will be looking for some heat soon.
Replies appreciated.

The only thing that I can deduce is that there is an air pocket somewhere and/or you are down a lot of antifreeze. With a cold engine, can you squeeze the top radiator hose and hear air bubbles? Does the level in the overflow bottle go up and down slightly?

After your initial coolant fill up, you should have needed to add at least another quart after warm up.

No Ffow through Heater Core.... Mistery Solved S70

Well I tore things apart yesterday and discovered a red plastic plug in the heater connection on the water return pipe. The most difficult one to get at. After reassembly I now have heat. When Erie Vovo cleaned the engine they plugged all the openings. I thought I removed then all.
Now to figure out why the turbo whines like a police siren. Wife doesn't like it. (it is a little annoying) The engine runs great.

LOL. That is something we are not supposed to figure out!

So, now check for plugs for the lines going to the turbo? A little harder to do I would assume.

The oil feed line is a banjo fitting so I couldn't go wrong there. The only questionable one is the water return line (similar hose connection) and I will check that out with my infrared temp probe.
