That's one I haven't heard of. Basically, you remove a bunch of torx screws. There are a few techniques, one involves taking the dash pad all the way off, another is to still take all the screws out but only flex the left end and middle up. I have done both - I would say just take the whole pad out. It makes is easier and is one less thing to be concerned about (don't flex it and split it). On the S70 you disconnect the battery and then disconnect the SRS bag wiring. I think it is the same on the 850. That is the thing that I think keeps people from taking it out, but it is worth it.
The computer connector is underneath the cluster, I believe. If you have a Turbo, there is a vacuum line for the the gauge that is disconnected under the left end of the dash.
Someone gave the link to a writeup. There are a few out there on the internet. The people who do these writeups are gods. It makes is easy for us to go in and get a job done without figuring how to disassemble things.
Good luck with the rattle. I never had a dash rattle with my 850 - I hate those buggers.
