Curious what is unique about the ocean race model, seems like only 600 were made.

Love my 850, but thinking newer wagon..

    The color and some stickers/embloms applied in various places. Most of the availble options were included as standard, hence the higher price. Volvo had to do something to try and make some money off their sponsorship of a boat race.

    I saw one the other day and expected the driver to have a gold chain around their neck with some preposterous pendant hanging from it. There is always a certain pecentage of the auto buying market that responds to things like Toyota's "gold package." That's my take on the car. If you buy one used at least you can have the excuse of a used car price to justify the purchase. Maybe the dealer will through in a gold chain?

    Tongue in cheek above, no offense intended, but seriously I loved my 850 as well and found nothing close in Volvo's current offering. My 07-V70 is a nice car, but in terms of ride/handling/performance it is the best Buick Volvo ever made.

      I got a kick out of your description of the expected driver.

      I bought an '95 854T four years ago, and unbeknownst to me it was the "Gold" edition. Big whoopty woo. I think it was an after market thing, and all the badges were gold. All it did was make it difficult when it came time to try to replace one.

      I remember the seller pointed it out - "You know, this is the GOLD edition." I nodded as enthusiastically as I could - I didn't want to offend him.

    Dark blue paint and nautical trim colored seats. They only made 600? Not a great combination or plus for resale, should not demand a premium.

    J/k - no really does anyone know what is unique about the ocean race xc 70 and 90s?

    I know they were released w/ the round world race which used to tbe the Whitebread...
