Removing past wax from rubber trim

I just gave my XC90 a nice liquid wax job. A day later, all of the places where I got a little of the wax on the plastic/rubberized pieces (bumper, door trim, cladding, etc.) have ugly white patches on them. Any suggestion how to remove these would be appreciated.

Any cleaner that removes wax works. Use a soft bristle brush on the rough plastic pieces.
The next time you wax your car, put vinyl protector on before you wax. It keeps the wax from sticking to it.

I have the same problem when I wax my S80 (or any car for that matter). I just hit those areas with some protectant (Armor All or similar) and it pretty much makes the whiteness go away. Over time rain, sunlight, and washings will make the white patches fade away as the wax degrades.

The only wax I am aware of that doesn't leave the white residue is Zymol. You put it on (in small sections) and take it off immdeiately, while it's still wet.

Good luck.

I've heard good things about Zymol too, but have not tried it. I also heard from a friend that turtle wax "Ice" is advertised to be able to put on the trim w/o going white on you. I have used this on my old truck that had a pretty bad paint job and it did fairly well, but not sure how it would look an something with a decent paint job.

I use Zymol for all of our cars. Very easy to apply but limited life. If you wax your cars at least twice a year, this is not a problem. Smells like suntan lotion.
