Have just failed emissions with a P0442 fault. Checked with an OBDII tool and confirmed this as well as getting a Fuel Sys1, CL, Faulty HO2S failure. I took a look at the charcoal canister and found the rubber "J-shaped" tubing connecting the canister to another small hose to be split. On a Sunday, had no access to parts, so I tried a bit of tape until I get parts. Everything else looked ok. After checking again with the OBDII tool, I get the same fault and the MIL is still on. Do I have to clear the fault codes to update the emissions check?? Could this cracked tubing be the only problem?? What about the HO2S fault?? Do I need to R/R the O2 sensor? Any help would be appreciated!!!

Thanks,

mtbahs

I think this means the valve in the evap system is not operating. On my mercedes I just sprayed WD40 in the evap valve and it has worked ever since, or you have an evap leak.

The fault will eventually clear itself if the repair is made, but not immediately. You need to clear the codes manually for that to happen.
