subtle misfire "shooting ducks' under acceleration load 06 XC-70 V70-XC70

Okay, I think I know the answer to this one, but expert advice from the FWD/AWD group would be greatly appreciated! The car just turned 19K miles with 18K of it running on inferior 87 octane juice. The past thousand miles have been on a combo of 89 and 91 octane. The fuel mileage has increased slightly, but while trying to pass other cars (mostly Buicks) when the gas pedal is nailed to the floor or heavily increased, a distinct multiple misfire can be felt in the acceleration curve. Not bad enough to significantly impact acceleration, but it is noticeable.

My thoughts are that the plugs are either semi-fouled, have too large of a gap, or the ECU hasn't adapted to the "good stuff" yet. I mentioned "shooting ducks"... sorry, a drag race term, ie. the cylinders are so stuffed with a fuel air mixture in a "boosted" engine that the spark doesn't occur at high boost levels.

My plan for next weekend is to pull the plugs and clean/regap/replace as needed. If that approach doesn't work, what are other suggestions? Sorry, although the car is under warranty, I can't trust the dealer, for that matter, any dealer.... Please note, no check engine light or "messages"

    problem found.... V70-XC70

The plugs were good, gap was perfect to spec, the problem was a crack in the coil pack. Yes, a code did finally pop up on the ECU but it was for multiple misfires... not exactly helpful! Revving the engine with the hood open and covers removed at night found the problem... just look for the blue arc!
