Liquid Oil from Exhaust S70 1999

I just returned from a long weekend at the beach. My 1999 S70 (135,000 miles) sat unused for four days. It ran rough after starting for about 30 seconds. Unfortunately my wife was putting a small package in the trunk at the time, and the exhaust sprayed liquid oil on her legs. The car burns(?) about 1 quart of oil every 3000 miles. Does anyone have any idea what may be the matter here?

That "oil" is not oil, but carbon mixed with water. You drive too many short trips with your car and the exhaust never gets hot enough to burn off the water in the muffler.

Sound like you could use a "tune up", plugs, cap, wires, and rotor. And get your pcv system checked while you are at it.
