Dash removal 95 850 850 1994

I bought the 95 850 a year ago, first day I had it realized the dash lights don't work. They will sometimes come on for about 5 or 10 seconds and then fade. I was told when that the odometer had been replaced (yes I have all the papers for verification)and I'm wondering since the lights do come on occasionally if the wiring components weren't completely pushed back together. I have checked all fuses & relays & they are fine. I need the complete details on how to remove the dash in order to check. Obviously Haynes & Chilton do not divulge this information. thanks for any help.

If it doesn't seem to be the dimmer switch, look here:

haynes and chilton both have a section about removing the dash and instrument clusters (although more pics would be nice). also, search this forum, there are lots of prior threads and posts about it. and google it for goodness sakes, i just did and several good links are right at the top. it takes some patience...

you may want to check that the problem is not the dimmer switch. its not uncommon for the dimmer to fail at this age.

good luck!

Hey, I hadn't thought about the dimmer switch. Thanks I'll check that first.

When my dash lights went funky, it was the main rotary parking/headlight switch that was at fault. IIRC, by twidling the knob slightly, I could get the dash lights to come on and off. Replaced the switch, and problem solved.

Could also be the dimmer. Your mileage may vary. Good luck. Don
