S or E button mileage difference

On my '97 I have the Sport or Economy button for trans. Has anyone noticed a difference or done the math on mileage gains by switching to Economy? I've always used the S but am now tempted to switch to E. What are your thoughts? Thanks very much.

S or E button mileage difference 850

i second what klaus has typed.

no measureable difference that i've found in "around town" driving. i read that it is merely a slightly different programming that tells the transmission to choose higher rpm shift points with "S"port and earlier or lower rpm shift points with "E"conomy.

i use the sport when climbing hills and driving around town, and then use economy when there are no/low hills and highway driving.

S or E button mileage difference

In normal city/suburb rush hour traffic, there is no difference im mileage. On stretches where it is just you and the road, E makes a big difference.

I use S locally and E on trips greater than 50 miles.
