v70 spark plug thread "grease' V70-XC70

I've been reading a thread about changing spark plugs, but no mention of anti-seize lubricant on the plug threads was mentioned. I've been using a silverish lubricant on the plugs of my 240 for years. Is such a practice useful for the V70 block? On my 140 i just used oil.
Thanks, for all the wonderful threads.
Gamma

v70 spark plug thread "grease' V70-XC70

I just looked in my Chilton's book (sorry), and it only speaks of a one-prong spark plug for the V70. My V70 Owner's Manual says what the gap should be. But the plugs i just got from Groton have three ground prongs and do not seem amenable to varying the air gap.
Are three-prong plugs really for the V70, he ignorantly asked.

    Thanks,
    Gamma

I would say that Anti Seize is more important on the aluminum heads than on the old cast ones. The plugs are in there longer these days and then tend to become seized and when they are removed the threads come out with them. I learned that when working on an aluminum head outboard motor. My first experience with "Helicoil"
All that's needed is a little dab. Also no more than 20 ft/lb torque.

      Thanks, Tom...
i just got my spark plugs from Groton and see that i don't have to set the gap because the geometry is different than my 240 wagon's plugs. I also see that the plug wrench size is smaller than my previous car's plugs. The V70 plugs seem to be 16mm (or 5/8 inch)... so i'd better get a deep socket for them.

Because the Volvo spark plugs stay in the block for 40K plus miles, I use anti-sieze on them. A drop or two of oil will work for a while. Leaving them bare could lead to problems with the aluminum block.
Keep doing what you are doing.
