2001 S80 engine block heater instalation. S80

Hello Gentlemen,

I have run into a minor problem, but becomes major to me. I have just recived orders to Alaska and have to winterize my cars now (I have training that I have to do for 20 weeks) so will not get a chance to do it before NOV in alaska. Well anyway I am here in Texas and i ordered the block heater from Autobahn in Ft. Worth (good dealership) and go figure they did not instill me with a confidence in them knowing how to do it as they have never done one. So I ordered the heater and am putting it on myself (sorry i don't want to pay 300 dollars for labor on a part that is not to hard to install). They one problem I have is that the instructions that came with it were for the inlne oil type, and this is the type that bolts to the block. I just need to know where on the block to look to mount it. It is quite a simple kit but alss I don't want to search all over the engine if someone can tell me what the exact spot is.

Thank you for your help.

Crump

Easy to install???? Sure, you just punch out one of the metal plugs on the side of the block, gently thread the aluminum block, and put in the block heater.

There are better products that get taped to the bottom of the oil pan and tranny pan. They act like heaters, similar to a 100Watt light bulb, and plug into normal electric current. They are available in the 49th state.

There are a couple of guys from Fairbanks on Volvospeed.com You should ask them for a better way to keep the block warm.

I am sorry that I might not have been clear on this. This dose not go in a feaze plug, it just bolts straight onto the block.
