1997 V70 AWD car to key programing? V70-XC70

Hello all.

Despite three or more weeks of waiting and searching, it seems that my wife's missing set of car keys are gone forever.

This means---- MAIN AGENT----. Now... I know that the 'remote' needs to be programed to my car,and so must the key, but I am surprised to be told that the car needs a software download. A 1997 car needing a download!! Where will they plug it in? I ask my self.

Like many others, on this, I am unsure of my ground and I am reluctant to query this too strongly before doing my home-work. I expect that it might not be the same in the States but people post here from all over the world---.

So... If anyone knows,I would like them to tell us all if the £195,00/$400.00 is what I can reasonably expect to 'hand over' in this matter etc etc.

Many thanks, and best regards.

Howard.
Isle of Skye.

Sorry Howard. $265US for a new remote and $125US for a new key. And software does need to be downloaded through the OBDII port in the armrest.

Keep searching for the lost items!!

      Thanks klaus.

Very similar pricing it seems. I wouldnt back out now even if they did turn up,pride you see.

There seem to be various guys over the internet etc etc, but yeer know, Going dark, pouring rain, dead car, no idea, total self belief failure. I use OEM stuff for everything else because it pays off one way or another, it's worth a few hundred quid/bucks to avoid the above(ugh), or indeed to avoid car theft! When my BMW got stolen, the effects lasted months & months, £200 to have turned the clock back to 'close the stable door' would have been a bargain....

      Many thanks. Best regards.

      Howard.

You might want to consider a spare key and remote, at least it should save on the download/programming cost? It may be possible for a garage that has Vadis software to "program" a new key.

Can't you get the bridge to the mainland to go down at night to keep the riff raff from stealing your stuff? People shouldn't be forced into locking up all of their posessions whenever it gets dark.

          Thanks again Klaus.

To be fair, crime of any sort here is slight and the local people have little fear of it. WEEELL---as for the 'riff raff' it just about boils down to me alone. I some times drive to Inverness, and even there 'I' have never seen those tell tail piles of safety glass in the gutter, or in car parks. quite high gun ownership here as well by UK standards, and it's accepted.

I confirm my 'riff raff' status every time I walk through the Volvo showroom to the spares desk clutching my Haynes manual.
£38.000 for an XC 90 I noticed. I'll leave it till next time.

          Very best of luck.
          Howard. Isle of Skye.
