In a 2001 XC70 (or V70, too?) how do you remove the black cowling just outside the gauge panel window? I bought this car used and it has a really outdated cell phone bracket with an ugly wire running through a small hole drilled in this cowling. See photo.

    You might look at the 850 instructions at volvospeed bay 13.

    I would pick up a nice bud vase to cover the bracket and put a nice flower in it once and a while.

    Don't start what you can't finish. You may do more harm than good.

      Heh, good suggestion :) Ok so I ended up carefully pulling out the cowling which just clicks in with a few brackets. I couldn't tell where the cables went so I removed the insulation, cut and insulated each individual wire and tucked it away. No sparks so hopefully this will not cause electrical problems in the future.
