automatic gearboxes S40-V40 1999

has any body has any automatic transmission problems where the electronic gear selection has automatically selected neutral at random, which then cures itself when the vehicle is restarted. my dealer says there is liquid in the gearbox that should not be there and has no idea where its from.

Liquid in the gearbox? Other than tranny fluid? The tranny cooler is in the radiator for 850/70 models and a cracked radiator may be the problem, but the dealer should have been able to determine what type of fluid is in there.
Have you checked the color and level of the tranny fluid? Get the tranny warm by driving for 15 minutes, then with the engine running and in park, check the level. The dipstick has two sides, one for cold and the other for hot.
Clean tranny fluid is red.
