1994 850 turbo no start 850

this was an "all of a sudden thing" - it worked the day before and now it doesnt.
so I checked the codes, and nothing but the 3-1-5 EVAP code came up, checked out the distributor and rotor - looked ok, noticed no fuel pressure at the rail valve, jumpered the fuel pump relay terminals 15 and 87 - turned it over and it started
BRIEFLY....
so this means the relay is bad right??
but should it stay running with it jumpered? - I cant remember how this works

any ideas greatly appreciated - THANKS

Jumping the relay will cause the fuel pump to run so long as the key is in pos II. Listen for the pump when you turn the key to posII.
If you haven't changed the fuel filter in a really long time, now is a good time to do that also.

      just to clarify....

--the jumper will allow the pump to run when key is in pos. 2

but this jumper will not allow the car to run if starter is operated, thus a relay is needed...?

      I think I got it

      Thanks
