Noise in Dashboard S70

My S70 Makes a sharp cracking noise inside right side of dashboard on cold mornings until warmup and now when I hit rough pavement (Potholes). I removed glove box and found no obvious trouble.

Noise in Dashboard - - rubbing glovebox S70

On my wife's V70, the glovebox rubbed against other plastic. I attached thin foam weatherstrip (1/8 inch thick) around the mounting lip of the glovebox and reattached it. This helped 80% but something still rubs in certain temperatures.

Noise in Dashboard S70

Hi,

There is a lot of archived information about 850/870 series dash noise.

Basically, either the four bolts that hold the dash to the cowl are loose and/or the plastic anchors on the dash are broken.

I have a "cracking" noise that comes from the upper air duct--the one connecting the air-box to the RH dash vent. I can't seem to find a solution. But it does go away as soon as the car warms up.

Old age I suppose.

Bryan

I have an 850, but same story here.
Car cracks and snaps on mornings no matter if its cold or not. I hit a pothole and it snaps as well.
For me its the black plastic pieces that are right below the windshield which hold the alarm light in. They are all busted up. Someone before me either broke it by taking the dash apart, or it just cracked from old age.

I too would like to know if I can "fix" this issue.

very annoying

thanks.
