Greetings,
There is a knocking sound in the front end while going down the road, at all speeds, normally while the wheels are straight (not in a turn). I've replaced the stabilizers (the small rods up front (not sure what they are called)). Also, is there a way to "quiet" it down before replacing--what-ever it is.
Any advice would be appeciated.

Currently Own:
1993 940 315000 miles
1996 960 300000 miles
2004 S80 111000 miles

Not that many miles, but there are probably a few pot holes in your neck of the woods.
If you already replaced the sway bar end links, then I would suspect the spring seat failing on the upper strut mount. Check this by trying to tighten the large nut on top of the strut tower in the engine bay. I use an adjustable wrench. If it turns easily, that is the problem. If it doesn't turn, then something else may be broken.

In that case, jack up the front end, remove the tire and check the top of the strut under the fender and see if anything else is loose.
