safety??? 850 1995

I am looking for some safety input!!!. I will be installing, on my 95 850, FCP grotons "big front end kit". this includes front control arms W/ ball joints, front struts, sway bar links, tie rod ends etc. I was thinking that to get some extra under vehicle room that I could put the rear end of the car on my "rhino" ramps "good for 10,000lbs +" and then jack up the front end and suport it with my jackstands! Would this be considered safe or should I just keep the rear wheels on the ground and live with the available room???? thanks, bobd!!!!!!

Just be aware that while the major components from FCP are OK, the smaller stuff like bolts and washers are substandard. This includes the 18mm bolts that hold down the struts and the 3 small nuts that hold the seat inplace at the fender.

i just wanted to let everyone know that all new bolts for the front end from FCP groton apeared to be of high quality except for the nuts for the top of the strut mounting in the engine compartment looked a little cheezy, they were copper colored, they may have been good but i didnt use them. all other bolts looked like factory hardware and were marked with grade 8.8, thanks, BOBD

When I took off the OEM 18mm bolts from the struts and found that the FCP replacement bolts were 16 & 15mm bolts and nuts, I began to question the wisdom of buying them.

So long as your Ebrakes work real good :) I would leave the rear of the car on the ground, blocked by a couple of 2X4s.

You will not gain any more room by doing that. The jack stands will give you all of the room you need. Just make sure the stands are secure. You will need the floor jack to raise the axle at times to relieve pressure on some parts you are replacing.

Do NOT, ever, use the jack in the trunk. That is for emergency use only, not for working on the car. It is flimsy at best, and OK for what it was designed to do - light weight and a tire change.
