driver seat rocks S80

It rocks at least 1 inch and is getting worse. I have looked at the seat and really do not see what I can do to fix this. The seat rails are tight.
Thanks

In the 700 FAQ there is a section on seat tracks that mentions several balls and rods that go in the tracks so that the seat slides better.

It mentions that the loss of some parts can make the seat rock.

I have also read a post that mentions a "20 cent seat fix" - you put a dime under the upper seat rail on each side to stop the seat from rocking.

A little more info please. You said the seat rails that are attached to the car body are solid. Does the entire seat move like a rocking chair? Or just the bottom? Does it appear that it is just the front of the bottom cusion that moves up and down, or does the rear also move up and down? Can you move the seat while not sitting in it, by hand?

Has your car been in a collision?

You cannot move the seat with out power. If while you are looking at the seat bottom from the side, and have someone move the seat back front to rear, it pivots in the back of the seat frame. I am talking about the seat portion not the seat back itself. Its like a rocking chair with a pivot point. the front moves up and down, while the back is solid.

On either side of the front seat are 2 bolts, about 12mm, at the pivot point. Try loosening/retightening them. If the seat gets a lot of movement, the bolt may be worn and in need of replacement.

Thanks Klaus
I tried that and it didn't make any difference. Any other ideas.
Again thanks.
