TracsOffABS light on intermittently 850

Tracs Off / ABS light comes on the dash intermittently. Could this be caused by pads beginning to need replacement?

When it comes on there is a faint whirring/vibration noise and tremor on the brake pedal before the lights come on and normal brake feel is restored (without the ABs presumably).

I live in a country (a small island nation) where it is seldom possible to drive faster than 50km/h. The ABS is not needed. Can I just remove a fuse or something to disable it?

Check the owner's manual for fuse location. They are different depending on the year of your car.

If you can, the ABS module can be repaired in California: http://home.earthlink.net/~vicrocha/

Even at 50Kph, a wet road can be very slippery.
