How do you repair coil pack wiring harness (crumbling insulation)? S80 2002

I'm replacing plugs on a S80 T6 and find that the insulation on the wiring harness to the coil packs is deteriorated and crumbling away. Is there an 'official' way to repair this? What do Volvo shops do? Thanks.

The "official" way it to get more of that crumbly stuff and replace it. Or you could stop by an electric supply shop and see if they have any. OR, buy a length of vacuum hose and slit it from end to end and put the wires in that (best alternative!).

Thanks KlausC! I can't find split corrugated wire loom spec'd for high temperature so I'm out looking for the right vacuum hose.

Any 8-10 mm vacuum hose should work. Just use a razor to split it from end to end, and then you can cut a small slit where each set of wires go to the coil pack.

Better than the original!
