Think I broke dad's car... 850 1997

Small problem. Just did a repair of the ABS module and the car sat for a while and dad complained the brakes were squeaking. So I took the car slammed it up to ~50 mph (when it lurched like it hit a rev limiter but was singing along at ~4.5k) and I slammed the brakes to clean up the rotors.

The car now does not squeak when you hit the brakes but it also won't idle and comes back with a P0243 Turbo wastegate solenoid A malfunction. Easy fix? What happened?

You must forgive me as I don't know much about volvo turbos and I haven't any idea how to drive an automatic.

Thanks!!

Andrew

Shame on you! Popping a waste gate is not how you are supposed to burn in new brake pads. Read this :
    http://www.stoptech.com/tech_info/wp_bedincontents.shtml

Now, the turbo is between the engine and firewall. First check all of the vacuum lines that go to the turbo to make sure they are still attached. Then check the wastgate actuator lever itself. You may have blown a diaphram.

Driving an automatic is normally a brainless function. It shifts when it feels like it.

Well THAT explains an awful lot of drivers! Most of the cars on the American roads are automatic.

And in the USA, the drivers are taught by people who "think" they know how to drive. These instructors assume that osmossis works and cannot fathom why anyone would ever want to shift for themselves, especially when a sub woofer turned up high is much more important.

"Most of the cars on the American roads are automatic." - Let's change the words a bit: Most of the drivers on the American roads are brainless. Last week, I saw a woman driving an SUV about 80 mph (well, occupying the driver's seat) and she was doing her eyelashes.
