Low profile tires and pot holes S70

This is not really a problem for my S70 with 50 and 65 aspect ratio tires, but with my bimmer with 45 and 50 aspect ratio tires. I have been experiencing the side walls developing a bubble from all the pot holes. Is it the age of these tires that is a cause of this happening more often? Would XL rated tires hold up better to pot holes and not develope these side wall ruptures?

Thanks,

Low profile tires and pot holes - will be worse in the future S70

That's a bummer and there is probably not much you can do to prevent damaged wheels and tires if you plan to run low aspect ratio tires. With America's road infrastructure deteriorating, the pot holes will only get worse.

A bubble on the side of a tire is asking for a blowout!!

To answer your question, no. There is no sidewall firm enough in the 50 or less aspect ratio to guard against potholes. Winter tires and wheels are called for.
